Vitamin D is so important in supporting the immune system , maintenance of cell division and muscle function. Not just the maintenance of healthy bones but for normal utilisation of calcium and phosphorus.

Many people believe that we can achieve our RDA from foods high in Vit D such as Milk, Eggs, oily fish, but the major source of Vitamin D is from the sun as the skin is where  it is manufactured.

The simple answer is that we are just not getting enough sunlight. We spend less time out doors, we travel in cars, recent cancer scars encouraging us to stay out of the sun and wear high SPF’s.  90% of vitamin D use to come from the sun and not on dietary sources.
